Yikes part II

Remember THIS discovery at my doctor's office? It continues.

I've become friends with the receptionist and decided to inquire about who is buying this stuff. Turns out the hot pink sold out in no time, both men and women have purchased it and people of all ages. Seriously?

While discussing it, some of the other women in the office joined in and expressed their curiosity around how it "works" so we cracked into a box. There were two tubes of color and what I will call a jumbo mascara type wand. We started reading the directions and all of a sudden the room full of mature women turned into 12 year old girls giggling and awkwardly laughing.

I think the entire thing is hilarious from the person that thought up the idea to the crazy people that actually use it and I'm warning you, you might not want to invite me to your next white elephant party.

"The Blackest Boots"

The amazing weekend adventures started when I picked up my rental car and they had given me the only Baywatch yellow P.O.S. It really was embarrassing to drive, but in the end I decided to just embrace it and go with it.

Thursday night I had the change to catch up with some friends from my old job and enjoy Cafe Rio. Man I miss you guys.

Friday I went for a run through SLC and ran past my old friend Dewey. So random. Read more about it on my running blog if I ever get around to updating it.

One of my objectives for the weekend was to eat my way through SLC so Friday night we ventured to Centerville to Firehouse Pizza. After pizza, LOTS of diet coke, and dessert a photo shoot erupted and got a little bit out of hand. I call this one "dope."

Operation eat continued Saturday morning at Janette's Sunshine Cafe with this cute girl Jill. So fun to catch up. It felt like old times.

Ventured up to Layton for a quick hello with Carlee. Not only was it great to see her, but she made us these awesome t-shirts. The back said "Make some memories." If you are a Friday Night Lights fan you will covet this shirt, if not you are probably very confused.

And then it was onto my favorite thing in the ENTIRE world. A Brandi Carlile concert. It. was. AMAZING. Might even be my favorite concert ever. The venue was small, we were front and center and I went with all of my favorite concert buddies. There were camera crews there filming the entire thing so I can only hope they release a dvd and that we get some good face time.

See, what a great group of concert buddies!

I love these girls. I wish we all lived closer, but was so glad we were able to have one last weekend adventure before Chels gets married and moves.

Remember how we have this thing about taking pictures giving the bird, well Brandi was a great sport.

I feel so lucky to have had the chance to spend a great weekend in SLC with so many great friends. See you all again in a few weeks and Brandi, I'll see you Thursday in Spokane!

Easter Weekend

Easter weekend I headed home to Spokane to cheer on this amazing man. Justin is one of my heroes. He has a huge heart and always makes you feel like his best friend. I will miss him over the next two years, but know there are people waiting for him to help them feel the amazing power of our Savior in their lives. Justin, I love you and am so proud of the man you have become.

Remember when I use to babysit these two?

My brother and I ventured out and bought a Wii and had hours of fun getting schooled by our parents at bowling. I mean check out my mom's killer form. Those bowling league skills really stuck with her.

Had great Easter church and dinner with the fam before heading back to Seattle. Pretty much the perfect weekend.

Gavin Degraw

So I'm really behind on everything in life including blogging. What can you do.

Back on March 28th, Jen, Steph and I went and saw Gavin Degraw perform at the Tractor Tavern. We saw him a few months prior and were excited to rock out again. He walks out onto stage looking like this and for the entire first song we were debating if it was him or not. Every picture I have even seen and in every performance he is always wearing a hat. Even Perez Hilton mentioned Gavin's change in behavior.

While he sounded great, the night was not quite what we were expecting. This was a much more somber and slow show. He played a lot of new soft music that no one new and a few of his old hits remade in a slower version. Towards the end he rocked out to a few song, but again it was just not what I was expecting.

While I enjoyed the show, I enjoyed the company more. Thanks for coming with us Jen.

Sick All Over

I take medications that is known to make me sick so I take it right before bed every night in order to sleep though the worst of it. If I forget one night, I have to double up the next night which is never a good thing.

Last night was such a night. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling sicker then I have ever felt. I immediately ran out of bed into the bathroom and started throwing up. NOTE: Stop reading if you don't want the details, because you are about to get them.

This was no average throw up. It was the kind where you open your mouth and it comes hurling out of you at a force you did not know was humanly possible. In fact, I threw up so hard that it splashed back onto me. Knowing that I had barfy toilet water on my face made me throw up again and start crying. I'm a clean freak and this is pretty much my worst nightmare come true.

Thinking about it again kind of makes me tear up and laugh all at the same time.

T-Bird

Therese Crisp Spangler. I love you. You were my partner in crime in high school. I have so many memories of our crazy adventures. We were always laughing and dancing. You knew my secrets. You cried with me on numerous occasions. You were with me when I blew out the speakers in my car rocking out to N'SYNC. You would do "drive-bys" with me. You loved me even when I did not deserve it.

You made fun of me for being a cheerleader, but were always willing to use my free access to games.

You ruled the school with me in ASB.

You spent pretty much everyday with me and these dorks which made a lot of the girls hate us.

You would play along with my crazy games. You painted that pink picture frame in my room. Remember, we painted you bedroom door this same color.

You were there to support me at graduation.

You spent my last night in Spokane with me before I headed off to college.

You let me share your wedding day with you. You let me play with your beautiful kids. You always loved me and were an amazing friend.

I can't believe that just last week we were posting on each others blogs and now you have moved on. I'm so glad we were able to meet up a few months ago and spend one last moment together. If I had known it would be the last time for a while, I would have hugged you longer. I would have told you how much I love you. I would have told you how proud I am of you. After all you have been through, you always had a positive attitude and were grateful for your blessings.

I feel blessed to have you in my life. I feel lucky to call you my friend. I know you are in good hands and that we will see each other again one day. Until that day comes, know your family is in my prayers.

I love you T-Bird.

Kickin It In B-Ham

After my oil change adventures, I picked up Jane, Kristen, and Camille and headed up to Bellingham. Kristen and I were running the Birch Bay 15k Saturday morning and figured we'd make a girls weekend out of it.

It was a fun weekend and I would not change a thing. In a nutshell, here's how it went down:

Front desk guy at the La Quinta my new boyfriend (his choice, not mine)
Carb loading
Best tasting homemade smore ever
Hot tub including personal towel deliver from Bobby (front desk guy)
TV drama
Fighting over who got to share a bed with me - lights out
Race check-in and excitement
Run along the beautiful bay and forest
Bloody toe - (see my running blog for details here)
Strong finish
Unsuccessful doughnut hunt
Home sweet home.

Thanks ladies for a fun weekend away, for running with me, and for cheering us on across the finish line. Let's do it again.

Oil Change From Hell

I had a meeting at my client's office Friday afternoon and I was heading out of town for the weekend so figured I would drop off my car to get an oil changed while I was at my meeting and be on my way.

I dropped it off, went to the meeting, picked it up and pulled out of their driveway when I started to hear a weird sound.....and then 10 feel later my car started to jerk. In order to get back I had to make two U-turns and on the second one the car made a horrible sound and stopped. The tire had fallen off. I have no idea why they took the tires off to change the oil, but they did.

I put my hazards on and got out of the car. Some genius driving by yelled at me, "Your tier fell off." Clearly. Thanks for your keen insight.

I calmly walked up to the counter and watch the mans eye bulge out as I explained what just happened. He walked back into a small room to call the owner.

They ran out to the street, put the tire back on and drove it into the bay while the owner came into the lobby to schmooze me over.

Now I get to take more time out of my day to get three estimates so they can pay to fix the damage.

Seriously, why do these kind of things happen to me? I'm now driving around with my car looking like this and you should hear the sweet noise the door makes every time I open it.
