So many adventures at the gym, so little time.
- MY (NOT Stephanie's) gym boyfriend* walked in with a super cute, thin, blond girl that I like to think is his sister, but in my heart I know it is his real girlfriend.
- My trainer Javon (who shaves his head including his eyebrows...weird) had a piece of lettuce stuck in his sporadic and stubbly beard. I could not bring myself to tell him and had the most awkward workout while I tried not to look at him.
- I had to literally stop the treadmill while watching Rob & Big because I could not stop laughing....and then I think everyone around starting laughing at me.
- Wilson Philips 'Hold On For One More Day' came on the radio and sure enough Javon belted out the chorus.
- Actual question from Javon: "What are your plans for Thanksgiving or do guys (meaning Mormons) not do Thanksgiving?" Seriously?

I Get A Gold Star
About 3 months ago I decided I wanted to be a runner. I have never liked running because I was not good at it, but I found a great program (couch to 5k), bought myself some new running shoes and decided I was going to do this.
I started out steady and slow, but was not sure it was really going to happen. I stayed to the schedule pretty well, but these last few weeks I kind of hit a wall. I would run 10 minutes, walk 4, run 10, etc. or on a bad day I would run 5 minutes walk 2, run 5, etc. I could run the 10 minutes, but did not feel like I could make it to the next step.
Tonight I DID IT!!!! I finally reached my goal! I ran 3 miles without stopping or slowing down for that matter. It took me 27 minutes and 34 seconds, but that is 27 minutes and 34 seconds of non-stop running! Not only did I run 3 miles without stopping, I felt like I could have kept going. It was so rewarding to finally meet a goal I worked really hard at. I am so proud of myself and feel like I have earned this bit of pride. I truthfully can't believe I did it. I never thought I would be a runner, but tonight I feel like I am finally in the club!
Running is strange in that one day it feels great and I have no problem, but the next day I am struggling to make it to 5 minutes and watching the clock slowly tick. I have a lot to learn about it still, but now that I reached my 3 mile goal, my new goal is to run a 1/2 marathon. I'm not committing to when this will happen, but one day it will.
I can't wait to do it again tomorrow and to all of you non runners out there....if I can do it, you can do it.

Another Saturday Night
Saturday night Steph and I met up with a friend visiting Seattle. My favorite conversation of the night went a little something like this:
Friend - My friend's wife wanted a baby so he got her a cat.
Me - And what, she treated him like a baby?
Friend - Yes, but no where close to your cat.
Me - And you thought you had to have more then one to be the crazy cat lady.

Duffy
I started out the night with a little post work nap with Max on the couch. Hit up a great new restaurant in Magnolia and was off to the Showbox SoDo to see Duffy.
Luckily we missed the opening band because he was bad. It was like he just left his corporate job for the day, but did not have time to change or practice before his "gig."
Duffy however was great. She likes to fling the microphone around and do these funny little arm dances, but she can hold a tune so who cares what she does with her arms. Her set was pretty short as she only has one CD. Someone should teacher her about doing covers of other popular songs. Next time I guess.

Low point of the night: getting drenched on our way from the car to the show
High point of the night: running into a few guys from the ward at the show

(Hey Steph....remind me again why we were laughing so hard in this picture...oh that's right. You were over sharing again. Thanks for that!)

Concert number 873
Went to another great concert at The Moore. Well, let me back up with the events of the night leading up to the show:
- Good food with GREAT people
- Stuck on a bridge for 1 hour while the accident 300 feet in front of me was cleared
- Free rock star parking
- 30 minutes late to the show
Don't worry, we walked in right as Marc Broussard took the stage. Yes, I just saw him a few months ago and yes I will be seeing him again in February on my cruise, but I still like hearing him live. My favorite part of his set, during the last song he rocked out "gospel choir" style.
Sara Bareilles also put on a great show and really knows how to rock out with a piano, but I was very surprised at the random old people audience she pulled. Weird?
I met Marc after the show and was impressed they recorded his set that night and had it for sale.

Kickin It With the L.P.'s
This weekend Breann, Stephanie and I took at trip to Portland. Our main goal...meet the Roloff family. See, we love the show Little People Big World and Steph and the genius idea to visit their farm during pumpkin season so we did.
Here we are after the drive down Friday night. We were a little gitty by the time we made it.
And once we were setteled in, we beepbooped.

Saturday morning we ate breakfast and headed for the farm.

I helped set up some tunes before we took off.

We arrived and waited in this line of cars for over an hour.

But the good news was we chatted it up with Matt while we waited. You can also see Zach helping guide traffic.

And we finally made it.

Matt was all over the place keeping things moving, but would stop and take picture along the way.

We never did get to see Jacob, Molly, or Amy, but they were there somewhere.

After the tour on the tractor around the farm, it was off to pick pumpkins.

This was my attempt at a "sexy pumpkin" pose.

The camer crew was all over the place getting lots of footage. At one point, I was trapped inbetween the camera guy and the boom mic guy. Who knows....you just might see us on TV.

Sunday we stopped by VooDoo Donuts and tried some of the craziest donuts I have ever seen.

We ended the trip with a stroll through downtown before heading home.

All in all, it was a fun and successful weekend.

Same Old You
On my way home from work the other day I decided to stop by the guitar store. The guy working there was very patient and helpful as I played each of the guitars trying to see which one I liked best. I really want a new guitar, but of course the one I liked was $1,800 and that was at 40% off. I almost bought it, but knowing the guilt I would feel for the next month helped me see that buying it was not the thing to to. Instead, I spent a cool $10 and walked away with new guitar strings for the good old POS I had waiting for me at home.
I drove home, re-strung my guitar, and was happy to see my checking account balance just about where I left it in the morning.

Lady in the Window
I am a sweater at the gym so Saturday after my 3 mile run I was more then ready to shower. I walked into my room, stripped down to by birthday suite, started the shower and sat on the toilet. I then had the following conversation in my head:
Dear neighbor lady that recently lost your job. (I could tell you all sorts of information about her that I wish I did not know.) Let me give you a tip. Try to quit smoking every 30 minutes and start using words that tell what you are thinking of or feeling. Using the F word in every sentence makes you sound like a high school teenager.
See you tomorrow morning. I'll be the naked lady in the window.
Would you look at that. From this angel in my bathroom window, I can see my neighbors sitting on their balcony. I wonder if they can see me. Oh, crap....we just made eye contact. Yep, they just saw me naked on the toilet. Well, if it keeps them from smoking on their balcony I'm totally fine with it.

"Put up your hands and surrender to me"
It was my first concert at the Showbox and I loved it! The venue felt like an old rundown Vegas club, but the setup was such that even though we arrive halfway through the opening act, we still got a great spot towards the front.
Charlote Sometimes (whom I had never heard of) opened and was well....not the best. You know how most people that talk with an accent don't sing with one. She was pretty much the exact opposite of that and it was not doing it for me.
Gavin DeGraw came out shortly after the opening band was done and put on a great show. His is quite the character on stage and feeds off the audience more then a lot of musicians I have seen. I did have a hard time getting past his "remedial" singing face and his tyrannosaurus like arms, but I would still let him sing me to sleep every night.

Check out that sparkly piano. How do I get one of those?

And because we have to have one at every concert....I give you the "Steph and Linds" photo of the night.
