2 Days, 2 Concerts

My friend had free tickets in a suite at the Key Arena to see Nine Inch Nails so I did what any concert loving person would do and went. NIN is not the type of music I listen to and I have to confess that I did not recognize any of the songs, but surprisingly I had a great time. My friend's husband was so into it and having such a great time that it totally made the night. I love being able to see someone get so into the music they zone out everyone else and rock out as there are a few concerts where I am this person. I was also very impressed with the technology and special effect of the show.

Next it was onto the Marc Broussard and Sharon Jones concert at the zoo. Marc was great! Sounds amazing live, but would have loved to hear more. I guess I will have to wait until my cruise. And to top it all off the dark gray clouds looming above held out and we stayed dry through the entire show.

My next 3 concerts in August are all Brandi Carlile shows. I can't wait! I know just the boots to wear.

These Boots Were Made For Walking

When moving to Seattle, the deal was I could by myself cowboy boots once I got a job. Well, 6 months into the job I finally did it!

I have never felt so out of place in a store before. It was an all western store that sold everything from Wranglers to wedding dresses...ya, you heard me right. Even the girl checking me out new I did not fit in when she asked if I was on the mailing list and did not try to push me to sign up.

If you thought a guitar strap kept me entertained, you should see my killer rock stance now that I got the boots to match!

NY Photo Shoot Day 2

Spent the day in this Soho loft on the 2nd floor that they rent out for $19,000 a month!

Had a great realization today. I don't need a boyfriend, all I really need is a DJ/craft service man. It makes the day so much better.

NY Photo Shoot Day 1

It's not everyday I get to spend the day in Brooklyn at a photo shoot, trying to keep the hundreds of Hasidic Jewish children out of our shots at the playground. What a totally random day.

Best Purchase of the Month

This past weekend, my good friend Carlee came into town for a quick visit. It was so fun to see her again and be able to enjoy to enjoy a sunny Seattle weekend. We did the usual Seattle thing while shopping along the way.

After this weekend...I am one step closer to my secret rock star dream. I finally purchased a guitar strap and could not have been more excited. Who knew one little guitar strap could provide hours of fun:

Steph and I have been practicing for our soon to be announced tour, but as you can see we have a lot to work on.

Thanks to Carlee for producing our music video and when I say music video, I mean impromptu family jam session.

Let's try that again...still got the words wrong. Maybe Steph should be lead vocals.

LA Photo Shoot

Ah...it's been an adventurous couple of days in LA. I am helping with a photo shoot for work and staying in the Ritz Carlton that Britney Spears often stays in. I keep looking for her, but apparently she is still locked up in a crazy house somewhere.

Since on this shoot, I decided that I need a craft services guy at my house, size 0 models make me sick, and being a house's agent is the weirdest job ever.

Today we were shooting at some large house up in the hills with a great view of the smoggy valley. Apparently the large houses we were looking at across the way belonged to Shack, Tom Jones, Jay Leno, and Paula Abdul to name a few. It was scorching hot and I somehow managed to burn my arm. Not both of them mind you, just the right one.

I fly back home tomorrow, get to spend the weekend with an old friend, and then it's off to New York for photo shoot number two. I hope the heat and humidity don't kill me!

Boring Update

I had a great 4th of July with the family. It was fun to all be together, but man I don't know how my sisters do it. Kids wear you out.

I like this last picture best because I feel like it truly captures the weekend.

Since the 4th it has been life as usual. Going to the gym (and down 13 lbs mind you!) working, working from home, and taking life one day at a time.

I am heading off to LA next week to help with a photo shoot for work. It is not the best timing ever, but when is a work trip ever convenient?

Sorry for the boring post, but so is life. I must give myself a gold star for being more active in the ward and actually starting to get to know people. I think there is hope for me yet.

Stalking Pays Off

Who ever said stocking was bad? Thanks to my diligent internet stalking of Brandi Carlile, I found a secret concert she is playing in August in Seattle and I could not be more excited.

I really need a new hobby...
