The Perfect Sunday

I slept in, was on time to church, and was excited to see a cute new boy walk into sacrament. My lesson went ok and I got to know a few new people. All in all, church was great today.

Then, it was off to Music Church. Now mom and dad before you go shaming your daughter for breaking the Sabbath, as I have previously mentioned, I am still on the straight and narrow.

Tonight was the Indigo Girls concert at a fun outdoor venue. It was so freaking hot so Steph and I were trying to keep cool while waiting in line by sitting under a tree. Next thing I know I hear a splat and Stephanie freaking out. A bird crapped on her foot. I did what any good friend would do and started laughing while I looked for my camera. All the while, I left Steph with crap literally running down her foot while I got a few shots.

Brandi Carlile has been touring with the Indigo Girls, but was not scheduled to play with them here in Seattle. Knowing that she is from Seattle, I had been trying to use the "Secret" all week to have her play with them. You know what, that "secret" shit really worked. Brandi sang with them for probably 80% of the time. As she walked out on stage, Steph and I perked up and started freaking out. Wow....it was a great night and if Em and Chels had been there, it would have been perfect.

They all sang a few of my favorite songs that I thought you would enjoy as well:

My Apple Family

It all started with an iPod that needed a matching iMac which needed an iPod shuffle for my life on the go which then needed a matching MacBook. I think my collection is now complete...well until I decide I need to upgrade the family and probably add a few more members.

Eric Hutchinson Concert

I was excited to go see Eric Hutchinson because it felt like forever since I went to a concert and I really like his music. I came home from work excited to go and decided it was my goal to get my picture taken with him.....and I did! Not my best picture, but whatever.

It was so freaking hot though. Just standing there waiting for the show to start, I got all sweaty so I knew I was in for it because who can not dance at a concert. You can even see how sweaty Eric was. Here is Steph and I right when we got there/pre sweat down.

He was a little putt off that not everyone new the words to his music, but I did and thought he sounded great live. He was actually pretty funny too. My favorite quote of the night, "Get out your glow sticks bitches." I love it....sounds like something I would say. I think we should be friends in real life.

Here is a clip I took of a little My Girl Medoly.

And a clip of one of his origional songs.

Thanks Eric for another night of great live music.

I Heart M.G.

As I walked into the gym I was not in the best mood since work has been so crazy and I had a rough doctors appointment. We walked in, scanned our cards and headed towards the machines when the macho moron that manages the joint tried to get us to take our picture. I grumbled and told him next time as Steph obediently walked over. Macho moron then told me I could get my picture taken or pay all of my yearly dues up front. Threatening me was NOT the right tactic tonight.

I stopped and was about to give some witty response when he asked, "Didn't we sign you guys up under the family plan or are you just friends?" My response as I walked away even more pissed, "Thanks, but we are NOT lesbians and your not getting my picture today so don't ask. Man this day just keeps getting better."

I guess I need to wear my "I heart male genitalia" to the gym in addition to most of the concerts I attend.

Crazy Busy

This week at work has been out of control busy. Working with a small team has it's benefits, but when 2 people from the 7 man team are on vacation and you are on both of their out of office and there is a huge event coming up in less then a week and next week is a holiday week and you were up until 12:30 last night working, you might look like I do at work.

This was a live action shot and what you can't see are the 12 open documents on my computer. I am so glad today is Friday Eve and that I have 3 concerts coming up in the next 4 days.

Weekend Away

This past weekend I had the chance to spend time with some of my favorite people. I know I was not able to get to everyone, but it was a very quick trip and I will be back again.

It was a very emotional trip for me. Seeing some of my former coworkers really sent me in a spin. I did not realize just how much I miss them. I miss our daily interaction, inappropriate banter, and understanding. I grew very close to a lot of people at my old job and wish they all would move to Seattle. I know you would like it here.....Then it was onto my friend Christy's wedding. I cried through the entire ceremony and was so happy I got to spend the day with Lynsey. When I grow up, I want to be just like Christy and Lynsey.

I love this picture of Christy and her sisters because it truly shows there personalities.

Me and the beautiful bride.

We had some great times in the Yellow House on the Island in Logan.

It was the Lindsay and Lynsey show all day. I miss you already!

I figured I had to throw one in of the groom. :)

I made it back without any problems and was glad to be out of the 100 degree weather. As I was driving home on I-5, I came around the bend to the sun setting on downtown Seattle and had this overwhelming feeling that this is where I am supposed to be. It was sad to say goodbye again, but I can't wait to see what's in store next.

Trying New Things

I cut 6 inches off my hair and dyed it darker then my natural color. Pictures to come tomorrow.

Had my first spray tan and think I might be hooked.

Was up before 7:00a on a Saturday and did not take a nap.

Only in Zion

You would never know I was in Utah yesterday:

At a clothing store:
Tough looking guy to the sales associate: " Do you have any long light weight dresses (pull up pants) that will match these heals? I have a drag show in NY next week and none of the stores in this town have what I need."

At a restaurant:
I was waiting for a friend outside enjoy the warm night air as a car full of 4 not attractive lesbians pulls up, high as a kite. I have not seen people that stoned since high school. As they walked by, they smelt so strong I think I got a little buzz.

Radom Bits

I hate the skinny girl at the gym that works out for 15 minutes on two different machines and does not even break a sweat and then leaves. I truly hate her.

I went home this weekend and happened to drive through downtown at the same time as the Spokane Pride Parade. Ya, they had one and even closed down 2 of the 4 lanes on one downtown street for them. Way to represent Spokane.

While home, I heard my little brother say to my mom, "I need you to teach me how to iron pants." I guess being the youngest you miss out on a few things.

My dad's Fathers Day present was a gift to my mom. I figured a happy mom was really the best gift I could give my dad. I am so wise I amaze myself sometimes.

Like Butter

While laying naked under a sheet....
Pat (my masseuse): Oh good, I am so glad I get to end the day with you.
Me: Why is that?
Pat: Because I have been working on really big buff men all day and they are so hard to work on. You, you are like butter so this is perfect.
Me: Your welcome
90 minutes later I finished the most painful massage I have ever had, but man do I feel smooth like butter.

A Little Support

I was sitting in a meeting today with 3 other women having the hardest time concentrating. Why you ask? Well, one of them (the oldest one in the group I will have you know) must have forgotten part of her clothes this morning. How embarrassing.

There are many women, maybe even some of you reading this, and need proper bra fitting help or in this womans case a daily reminder to put one on. I don't know why or when, but somewhere along the way I became the "support" friend. I have taken numerous friends bra shopping and all of them have come back thanking me for being such a "supportive friend" and amazed at the difference. Approaching a friend about this situation requires proper timing and careful approach, but as a friend it's what you have to do.

A few tips ladies:
- When buying a bra, it should fit on the last set of hooks. The other hooks are made to slowly start being used as it looses its elasticity.
- A bra works hard all day. You should not wear the same one two days in a row in order to give it time to properly reshape and keep its elasticity longer.
- If you are spilling out the top or more importantly the sides, IT DOES NOT FIT.
- ALWAYS ALWAYS wear a bra when leaving the house.

There are many more tips and I am only a phone call away if you need any help, but I must warn you, my work is best represented in person.

Your welcome.

Freaking Out!!!!

Oh My Gosh!!!! I am so freaking excited! I just purchased tickets to go on the Cayamo cruise. What is the Cayamo cruise you ask, only the perfect vacation for a music obsessed person like myself. It is a 7 day cruise that includes live concerts each night and during the day from people like....Brandi Carlile (I was sold right there), Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin, Indigo Girls, Marc Broussard, Lyle Lovett, and John Hiatt just to name a few.

There are still cabins available if anyone wants to go, but last year it did sell out so don't wait to long.

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Funny

God bless Photoshop. This makes me laugh so hard.

Work Boyfriend

While at my previous job in Salt Lake, I quickly snatched up a "work boyfriend" in Bryce who happened to be in town for a few days. Now, don't go calling the deep south police if you ever hear me refer to him as cousin Bryce. You see, Bryce is the real cousin of my families best family friends. We even figured out we had met/been in the same place multiple times in the past from weddings to trips to the lake. Small world eh.

We did our best to try and convince Bryce to move to Seattle and while I think he would love it, we may have scared him off with our over the top banter and harassment.

Work boyfriend, it was great to see you and I miss our scandalous rendezvous in the copy room that never happened. Let me know when you decide to move. I know this perfect spare bedroom where you could live.

Seattle Summer Nights

This past Friday we ventured out to the Mariners game. Despite the cold, loosing the game, and lack of attendance from my brothers and a few other UT people I miss a lot it was a great summer night in Seattle.

Good Question

While driving home last week:

Me: There's homeless Helen (my nickname for her) again, working the corner like always
Step: Where do you think homeless people get black Sharpie's for all of their signs?
Me: I don't know, that is a really good question.

We drove the rest of the way in silence trying to figure out yet another one of life's mysteries.
