Top of the Morning To You

Today my flight was late because a girl had overdosed on heroine and the paramedics had to take her off the plane. What a great start to the day.

Red Light Green Light

The light off of Redwood and I-215 can be a little tricky. I have to go through this light everyday on my way home from work. Today, I pulled onto the exit and almost made the green light. I was the 4th car back and thought nothing of it as I waited for the light to turn green. I kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting. I looked ahead and realized the front car did not pull up enough to trip the light. I keep waiting thinking they would realize this since the light was not changing. By this time, it had literally been 5 minutes and I was bugged. The car was not going anywhere and I was starving and could not stand it. I knew from previous endeavors that if they did not scoot up, we would sit there forever.

Time check – 8 minutes at the light and still no movement. I put the car in park and started walking up to the car. I was not sure if they would be a crazy person so I decided to only go a few feet from my car. I could see their window was down so I whistled and told them if they wanted the light to change, they needed to pull forward. The mom driving her kids around then called me an ‘f’er. I told her I was just trying to help, but that she needed to pull forward. I started to walk away and again she called me an ‘f’er and told me to get in my ‘f’ing car. The guy in the car ahead of me said thanks as I walked by and got back into my car. What do you know….she pulled up and about 20 seconds later, the light turned green

I must say, this is the first time I have been called an ‘f’er to my face. I was just glad that it was a situation I was able to walk away from and laugh at. To the mom driving her kids around calling me an ‘f’er, I say good luck in life. I hope you reap what you sow.

Mr. Job Shadow

Yesterday, a BYU student came to Datamark and did a job shadow with me all day and as usual, it was quite the experience. When HR approached me about this I said sure, but had no idea what it would be like. How do I make my job seem important? What if they are that person that sits at the front of class and kissed up to the professor after class? I hate and made fun of that person in college.

At about 9:15, the receptionist called asking if some guy with a hot British accent was coming to job shadow me because he was lost and running late. She quickly asked me not to tell him her comments, but she hoped he kept calling because his voice was sexy. This made me excited for the day.

As I rounded the corner to greet him at the front desk, I was nervous and then there he was....tall, dark, handsome, and smelling very fine. On top of all this, his accent was great!

We went back to my desk and started making small talk.

Lindsay - Are you almost done with school?
Hot Accent Guy - I have about 3 semesters left
Lindsay - What brought you to the states?
Hot Accent Guy - My girlfriend wanted to go to BYU. Actually, she is my fiancée.
Lindsay (inside her head) - you are now dead to me

We went about the day, he asked some great questions, I made up lame answers and that was that. Really, I wanted to ask if we could go to my house to have him read Harry Potter out loud to me, but I thought that may be a little awkward for him.

My favorite part of the day was watching all the other girls check him out not knowing he was taken.

Just another day in paradise.

Old and Crazy

Tonight was quite the night. The stake president and a member of the EQ came to visit as part of ward conference. We were having a great discussion about what Christ was doing during his life at our age when the doorbell rang. Steph and I both looked at each other and had no idea who it was.

I opened the door to two sweet old women from the family ward I live in trying to track us down to do their visiting teaching. We invited them in and the crazy began. One of them was your typical sweet old grandma that needed a hand getting up the stair, wearing a seasonal sweater. The other was a crazy, old, rich, saggy earrings, costume jewelery wearing lady. She walked right in and started talking. She liked my paint job...how did you get the lines so straight? We should come to her ward....there are lots of 80 year old single men. At this point I kind of lost her because she started telling us stories about old guys dancing and telling the women to loose weight....some guy offering different women rings...and so on.

She finally stopped talking and we let her know that we do go to church and the person she was looking for did not live here. As she left, I could not help but think that I want to be just like her when I grow up. Lost of costume jewelery, all dressed up to go visiting teaching, pretty fake white teeth, big hair, and endless stories to tell strangers. I mentioned this to Steph and she said not to worry. She was sure I would be the crazy old lady. Strangely, I was not offended by this.

So, the crazy old ladies left and we were all speechless. Literally....for a good 30 seconds we all just sat there in silence not sure what to say.

Thanks crazy old ladies for doing your visiting teaching and making me laugh.

Love

According to Shakespeare, today, March 11, 1302, was Romeo and Juliet's wedding day. In honer of this great and tragic love story, here are a few things I have learned and experienced with love.

- I have loved and lost, but he taught me so much I would do it again.
- Being angry at someone gives them power over you. Learning to truly forgive and forget has been the hardest part of life this far.
- One of my biggest weaknesses is letting people in. I have been hurt by so many people that I have a hard time letting other love me in a way I deserve.
- I love my cat. No matter what I do or look like, he always loves me back.
- When I do get married, I don't want to have a reception.
- I "heart" a lot of things.

It’s a Conspiracy

Roommate….I’m onto you and your tricks. I see how you are trying to keep me as the fatter person in the home. Monday night….hey roomy, want to go to dinner and the Snow Patrol concert….no, I just want to stay home. Did you stay home? No! You went to the gym. Tuesday night….hey roomy, want to eat the last piece of dessert….no you can eat it. And what did you do while I was inhaling dessert? You snuck out of the house to the gym. Watch out…I am onto you. I’m cooking dinner this week and if you are not careful, I may just give you a dish laced with protein powder. Let’s see who gets fatter now!

I Saw One

This Saturday was awesome! I was at the ghetto Target on State and 6000 South minding my own business when guess what came around the corner.....a crazy old lady pushing her little dog in A PET STROLLER.
