"Within the lyrics of the worlds most famous songs lives a story that has never been told...until now." Saturday night we went and saw the movie Across the Universe and I loved it. I love movies and music so what's better then a crazy, kind of out there, artistic musical. It is a love story between Jude and Lucky based on songs written by the Beatles. There are few scenes that are just really weird, but all in all it was a great movie. It is kind of like Moulin Rouge, meets the Beatles in love and on an acid trip.
Today was a joint lesson at church. Steph was not feeling well and left early. I found a seat and waited for the lesson to start.
This girl who normally wears pig tails and has huge bug eyes sat next to me with her friend. They ignored me for a good 5 minutes as I sat their quietly observing the guy in front of me trying to make a move. Bug girl (who's name, occupation, and ward fiends I could tell you about) turned to me and said, "How long have you been in the ward? I don't think I've seen you before." I quickly responded with a, "Ah, 2 years actually."
She quickly turned around and started talking to her friend again.
It was a great birthday thanks to all of my friend and family. It started with bagels waiting for me at my desk, sort of working in the morning, lunch with work friends, presents, calls, text messages, homemade apple crisp, a case of diet coke, and a little more work in the afternoon. I went to dinner with friends and then came home wanting to go to bed because I was so freaking tired.
When I came home, I had one more present waiting for me. My poor cat's face was super swollen, red, and quickly getting worse. I spend the rest of the night in the Pet ER with one final birthday present of a $200 animal hospital bill, but Max is worth every penny. I am ok being the crazy cat lady because I love Max and he ALWAYS loves me back.
This picture really does not give it justice. I think the highlight of the trip was when I was helping the doctor hold Max on the table. The doc started pushing on Max’s swollen face and all of a sudden tons of brown liquid shot out, coated his eye, and started dripping. It was quite the experience.
Thanks to everyone for the love and birthday wishes.
Today, a friend gave me an early birthday present. Having the best box of maple bars delivered to me at work completely made my day. Knowing that I am loved and people know details about me like my favorite type of donut is the best feeling in the world.
Thanks for the donuts. Thanks for the kind gesture. Thanks for knowing and loving me.
On my way to my desk this morning I passed my co-worker sitting at their desk, holding a spreadsheet in their hand, sleeping. I have seen them do this before and have even walked by right as their head violently falls forward.
My day started by waking up to my dripping wet cat cleaning himself on my formally white sheets.
Today at lunch, there was a woman at the table next to me that literally sounded like a munchkin. The first time she started talking, my entire table stopped eating and looked at each other in disbelief.
I learned that 3 months after my lasik eye surgery, I now have 20/15 vision! That was the best money I have ever spent.
When Steph and I came home from work, she walked in the house and asked why our house smelled like something was rotting. I told her it was the chili in the crock pot and she was now not allowed to eat any. Rude! :)
Tonight I climbed on the roof to take down the dish. I am pretty sure the neighbors think we I'm crazy.
I spent some time with my nephew Ike. This picture is a little fuzzy, but Ike is always on the move so I think it is appropriate. He is great. Ike walks around like a pro and wants to be independent. I love Ike and can't wait to meet his sister Macy in 3 short weeks.
Steph, myself, and our sisters went to see Wicked in LA. It was great. I was very impressed with the set and am glad I finally saw it. We had fun driving around LA seeing all of the places from our favorite reality TV shows.
We also danced with Ellen..again. One of the girls we went with was picked to ask a question on the show so we were first to be seated and had a prime location. If you did not watch Ellen last Wednesday, you missed seeing us on TV quite a few times. We only filmed the kid nation and comedian segment on Wednesday's show. Everything else had already been recorded. Ellen then changed clothes and we filmed a segment with Jamie Fox that will air sometime in October. That's right, I was about 10 feet away from Jamie Fox.
I flew home Wednesday, worked a 15 hour day Thursday, and flew back to San Diego for the day to visit my client. I have now spent all weekend sleeping and watching season 3 of Grey's Anatomy.
My next adventures include the Brandi Carlile concert in Boise, the Comedy Festival with Ellen Degeneres in Las Vegas, and home for Thanksgiving. Maybe I will find a life sponsor along the way. Let me know if you have any prospects.
Just like every other girl out there, I love the movie Dirty Dancing. Come on...with such great quotes as: " Nobody puts baby in the corner" "I carried a watermelon" and "God wouldn't have given you maracas if He didn't want you to shake 'em" how can you not love it!
Not only are the quotes great, but Patrick Swayze sings on the soundtrack and John Holbrook and I made out to it once...can it get any better? Seriously!
I was watching it again last night and had a pretty sad realization. I know that it is a movie which in turn means it would never happen in real life, but Johnny would have never gone for Baby. Think about it. Baby volunteers to help cover for Penny. Johnny does not like her and is pretty rude to her during practice. One day she yells at him for not teaching her how to do the lift and next thing you know, they are in love. Even for a fake movie, it would have never happened.
I am sad to come to this cynical realization. Maybe this is why it never worked out with John and I? hummmm.....
Pet peeves for today: 1. When you buy milk at the grocery store and they put it in a plastic bag. 2. Blowing your nose so much, it stings enough to make your eyes water when you put moisturizer on.
Favorite parts of today: 1. Rocking out to the new Eric Hutchinson CD on my way to work. 2. Putting the CD in my car that Danny made and having "It's Britney Bitch" come through my speakers at the volume I was listening to Eric Hutchinson at.
Funniest parts of today: 1. Ryan Z loosing the bet and giving me 7 diet cokes 2. IM conversations 3. Perez Hilton TV special
Hardest parts of today: 1. Getting out of bed 2. Trying to be work appropriate while having an afternoon cocktail of Sudafed, day quill, and diet coke
Last night at approximately 5:00 o'clock (we are being told, but an insider admitted it was actually at 3:30) our server that launches our emails went down. At about 6:30 last night, a crazy wind storm came through town.
Today, I am being told the email server went down because of the wind storm. Seriously! The wind storm that came through 1.5 hours later shut down the server that is in the locked down, temperature controlled, high tech room. Hummm....seems like a load of crap to me.
I don't know why, but I have always loved Costco. I remember the days before they had scanners and two people would ring you up. One person would say the bar code number and the other person would repeat the number as they typed it in. I use to make my little brother play Costco with me at home....I know...I'm a nerd.
One of the things I like about Costco (besides the fact you can by everything there larger and in more quantity then necessary) is the eclectic audience it draws. Today, I decided to make it even more exciting by going to the new Costco in West Valley City.
I went and was pleasantly happy because the place was fairly empty which is unheard of at Costco. I got the items on my list...and a few books...and the Office season 3...and a few other random things and was on my way out, but I was feeling all kinds of disappointment. Sure, there were a few crazies, but nothing I could not have seen at the Bountiful Costco. Then it happened.
I was checking out and this "person" walked past. It was a man who had to be in his mid 60's wearing a long blond wig, dress, high heals, and a purse. He did have a bit of a 5 o'clock shadow and hairy legs, but he walks better in heals then I do. I tried not to stare, but could not help making a few jokes to myself on the way out as he waited in line for a hot dog.
Thanks West Valley Costco for coming through in the end. I can't wait to see what you have in mind next!
If you thought we paid way to much for some great JT swag....you would be right!
Wow..what a show. Justin performed for over 3 hours, which means that we (Justin and myself) sang and danced for over three hours.
They had these great mesh screens that would come up and down and show him up close vs. showing the video feed on the big screens.
I really can't explain the concert and give it justice, but seeing Timberland and Justin Timberlake live together is one of my most favorite events thus far in life. JT performed every single song off of his FutureSex/LoveSounds album and a few other hits like Girlfriend, Senorita, and Gone. Timberland came out a mixed quite a few songs and played a few of his own.
The encore was my favorite slow song, All Over Again. A perfect ending to a perfect night!
I keep sitting here trying to figure out how to explain the concert better, but it is just something you had to witness for yourself. I know I have said this before, but this was by far the best concert I have been to.
Other then the show, Vegas was great. I laid by the pool, read my book, took naps, drank diet coke, watched the fountain show at the Bellagio, got a sun burn, and played a little late night bingo at the Sun Coast.
